"Dancing with Bears"
The scene depicted is in 1948 during the Berlin Airlift when thousands of planes/personnel embarked on the crusade to save West Berlin from starvation. The Russians would harass the allies and many times would purposely dive in front of the cargo planes in an effort to disrupt the steady flow of supplies. On a few instances there were mid air collisions-one with Col. John Misterly at the controls and narrowly averting an altercation between the two countries. Depicted is on of these harrowing moments when the Yak-9Ps tried to disrupt the supply lines during this tense moment in our history.
